PersonalLog, a new development by FreddyWare Web Services, has now been launched and will offer free blog hosting. Featuring WordPress µ, pre-installed plugins and themes (more coming) customized to our needs, PersonalLog is the place to go for a starter blog.

Unlike Blogger, we don’t make blogs have an annoying bar at the top linking to other blogs and enticing users to create their own blogs. (We do those things quietly within the site theme, without disturbing the layout of the site.) We also give each blog its own control panel that operates just as a full installation of WordPress would; with some enhancements and some changes.

Now, if you’re looking for a quick way to get a blog, you could go for WordPress.com, which uses the same technology as PersonalLog, but here are some reasons you might want to go with us:

  • A cool address at PersonalLog.org that reflects you
  • Hey! It’s a subdomain! You build rankings and reputation for yourself, not us.
  • We don’t moderate everything you do, and you can discuss everything that’s not illegal or immoral or highly offensive
  • No AdSense on your blogs unless you choose to – and even then you’ll be able to split the revenue!

As for the technical features:

  • Links to our site are hardly prominent
  • Customizable URL (permalink) structures
  • Customizable URL “slugs” per post
  • Multimedia uploads
  • Filtered themes modified for compatibility & functionality
  • Per-blog/per-instance comments moderation
  • You control the Blogroll
  • You control your users
  • Import/export your blog data without MySQL knowledge
  • Multiple blogs per user and multiple users per blog

We are constantly making improvements to our services. Already we’re using subdomains. We now also support top-level domains, like www.example.com that reveals nothing about where you’re hosted. (FreddyWare Web Services registers, renews, and transfers domains for low prices.) You don’t have to transfer; just point your nameservers to us.

In the near future, we will be integrating these services, forums, and domain registrations to provide loyal users with free cPanel hosting at FreddyWare Web Services.

Go ahead and join in the fun. Get your own blog today for free!
